Google Maps is Now Featured with a More Discreet Corner Logo
Users who open Google Maps on their phones will see a new look for the logo in the corner of the map screen. The update is being rolled out for Android and iOS now, version 25.21 for Android and version 25.22 for iOS.
Google Maps Corner Logo of 2025
Four-Color Comics To Monochrome Comics
Older versions of the logo showed the well-known green “Google” wordmark, inside a white border. The early version was easily spotted and sometimes looked very different than the map’s style. With the new update, when Google Maps is open, you’ll find the full words “Google Maps” in the app’s logo. Using Google’s branding, “Google” is shown bigger and bolder, while “Maps” is in standard size and weight.Google’s simplified layout is recognisable from the update current designs are receiving in other services.
Cleaner and Less Distracting
The transition is meant to reduce the disruptions users undergo each day. The updated design in fullscreen is noticeably less obvious, so it does not draw too much attention. Because the map is busy with roads, icons and text, making the lines less bright does not prevent it from being used well.
The search bar still displays the old multicolor pin icon. This applies to how the branding watermark shows on the map screen. The Google Maps site (maps.google.com) is not displaying the new logo at this stage.
A Slight Change with Significance
This refinement could go unnoticed by ordinary Google users, but it shows that the company wants its products to both look right and be well-designed. As well as other updates, adding special car designs and tools to make identifying screenshots simpler, it has made Google Maps even more useful.
